Hi all. I'm in the market for some new gaming headphones. Looking for some recommendations. I'm long due for an upgrade.

For reference my current pair of headphones is a 2013 model of Razer Kraken. It's starting to wear and tear. I'm due for an upgrade but want to shift away from Razer products (I was young and naive when I first got into PC gaming).

Any of you {FITH} members got a good recommendation for a gaming headphone in a similar price range? Ideally something that doesn't have any software like Razer does.

    All input will be appreciated!

I have the Logitech G35. Great simulated surround sound. Only downside is that the thin pleather covering on the earpads wears off.

I'm running a Logitech G230, I have a larger head (7 7/8 hat), I really like it except for the short mic on it. Has issues picking up because it's really only reaching to the side of my cheek.

My son uses the Logitech G930. The reviews on Amazon are mixed, but they have worked well for him. He will wander down from his room and sit at the kitchen table eating while listening to whatever is playing up on his computer. And he uses them for hours a day.

Two quirks that might account for the mediocre reviews: The mic boom has loosened up a couple of times so it would not stay in the up position. It is just a friction design and tightening up one screw fixes that. Second, there have been a couple of times where the mic or muting stopped working or it wouldn't connect. There is a reset button that has resolved all the problems that came up. I wonder how many people just discarded them...

I use a $7 pair of Koss headphones and an archaic desktop mic that I think came with an old sound card or something.

I use the G930. They work well for me. Mic is super sensitive though which is why everyone hears me typing.

After going through wired and wireless Logitech units that would either randomly disconnect, or require moving USB ports to function, we swapped to Steelseries. Wife uses a wired Arctis 5 and I use the wireless Arctis 7. It's been flawless. If you have an odd shaped head you can adjust the elastic band that lays on your head to fit, and if you'd prefer closed ear instead of open ear cloth you can swap it out to eliminate outside sound.

They occasionally go on sale at Amazon, Best Buy and other places.

Congratulations on getting married despite your odd shaped head.

I have the Hyperx cloud series and they are fairly solid. Replacable earmuff covers (pleather/cloth), good sound quality, comfortable, etc. If you do get wired make sure they have a tangle free cord. Mine do not and if I wanted to be tied up and twisted I would just browse Craigslist and hire someone to do it to me.
